The deal, in plain language

AskReal connects people who need a human with people offering to be one. These terms are short on purpose. Where they’re silent, the rule is: be a decent human.

Applying to the waitlist

AskReal is currently accepting applications for invitation-only access. Applying is free and does not create a public profile or start a paid subscription. We review applications and may contact you about yours or send an invitation. Applying does not guarantee acceptance, a place in a numbered queue, or access by a particular date. Please provide accurate information and only information you are entitled to share. The service terms below apply when you are invited and use those features.

What AskReal is

A marketplace. Helpers offer skills; askers post one-off requests and book help. The work itself, what it costs, and the promises made about it are between the two of you. We provide the introduction and the conversation, and nothing else.

Every request is a task, not a position

Work on AskReal is a one-off piece of work: a thing reviewed, a deliverable handed over, a price agreed between you, up front or once you’ve talked. AskReal is not an employment agency and does not place anyone into a job. Helpers act as independent people offering a service — booking one makes them nobody’s employee, not yours and not ours. Please don’t use AskReal to recruit for employed positions; if a working relationship grows beyond one-off tasks, hiring is between the two of you, off the platform, under the employment law that applies to you.

Money

Joining the waitlist costs nothing. If you later choose a tools and service subscription, its price, billing frequency, renewal and cancellation terms will be shown before you purchase. An application or invitation alone does not authorize a charge. AskReal takes no commission, no service fee and no cut of the work. Payment for the work itself never passes through AskReal: the two of you agree what it costs and settle it between yourselves, by whatever means you both accept. We hold no money for you, so we cannot refund, release or recover it, and a dispute about payment is between the two of you.

Your account

Actions and Trust

Action records describe an outcome and its evidence. Participant confirmation means the named participant confirmed that record; it is not an independent certification by AskReal. One-click Trust expresses a user’s personal trust in a service provider; it does not verify their work. Action-backed contextual Trust separately describes a confirmed interaction in a specific context. Its giver can revoke it at any time. Subscription payments do not buy Trust or increase search ranking. Historic stars and UPs are not current Trust.

Publish only evidence you have permission to share. You may hide your action records, report disputed evidence, and appeal a report decision. Export is a snapshot, not a permanent guarantee: check the current Trust status before relying on it. Cancelling a subscription does not erase your records or prevent your authenticated data export.

You’re responsible for what happens under your sign-in. Don’t impersonate people, don’t scrape the directory, don’t use AskReal for anything illegal in Hong Kong or wherever you are. We can suspend accounts that abuse the platform or the people on it.

Acting through an AI assistant

You can connect an AI assistant to your account. Anything it does there, it does as you: posting a task, editing or closing one, or changing your profile. Each of those shows you what it’s about to do and waits for your press, but the press is yours and so is the result. Treat a connected assistant like a signed-in device: disconnect it when you stop using it, and don’t connect one from a computer that isn’t yours.

Experience, not licensed advice

A helper tells you how your work reads to someone who has seen hundreds like it. That is judgment from experience — it is not legal, financial, tax, medical or immigration advice, and no helper here is acting as your solicitor, adviser or doctor. When a decision needs a licensed professional, engage one; AskReal is for finding out how your work looks before you do.

No guarantees

Helpers are real people, not employees of AskReal, and we don’t vet or certify their work. Reviews and conversation are your tools for judging who to trust. The service is provided as-is while we’re young.

Changes

As AskReal grows these terms will grow up with it. Material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect. Questions: hakest@nexttryhk.com.
